Deal With Disappointment - Redefine Failure

The fight for one's soul is never the same as that for the flesh. There is more at stake and it's about more than just survival its about BEING. In my previous article, "Climbing Mt. Everest" I pointed out that its hard to be grateful for a job when the employer makes you feel less than who you know you are. So I helped you rant but the truth of the matter is that jobs let us down only if we define ourselves by them. So your boss is another name for a donkey! So what? Having a bad boss can work for one of us in two ways.

Either it can get us depressed or it can help us rethink our goals and re-strategise our lives and our goals. When there is no fun at work we can look forward to spending more time with loved ones. They will benefit from our eagerness to be with them and our presence. It can never happen that one can become a workaholic at a job they don't enjoy or in a job environment they don't enjoy.

Such environments though should not end up with us suffering from 'transference'. Just because we don't get recognition at work is no reason for expecting our loved ones to take over our bosses' roll. We should never look at such situations as failures. They are nothing but catalysts or nudges that we need from time to time to stop us from getting too comfortable in one place day dreaming and not executing any of those dreams. Of course we should mourn the loss of what might have been, the inability to touch the expectation we had built of the job and our failure to live it. We should take a short while to grieve, not too much time. A job is not worth that much. After all the reality or expectations of a job are ones we create in our minds.

A boss or a job does not own anyone. These two have no power over anyone except the power we give them. We are not slaves to our bosses or our jobs. They come and they go,. When we fight with our souls or our spirits we create a different reality. We create a realisation that we can get another job and another boss or we can create our own job and be our own boss. We can even begin to realise that we are our own bosses and everyone else is boss to the work we do. We need to realise that we are separate from our jobs and by making ourselves the work we put ourselves down to the level of our job. We only get employed in jobs because we will have proven that we are above the tasks expected of us. If we were at the same level or below the tasks we perform no one would hire us. Our minds need to learn that no one performs us, it is us who perform the jobs and therefore we are the BOSSES!
