Children Should Be Protected from X-Rated Music Videos

I love music and in my car I get to play all the jams I like at a higher volume than I would at home (have to mind the neighbours and my housemates).  The one thing that I am having trouble with at present are the female musicians.  They can sing alright but they seem to think they have to also go semi-naked to sound better.  I am now having to be very selective whose music I play and buy because I think any message in a song is not just the words but the whole package, which includes the video.  You see I don't buy music that uses deregotary words to describe women and there are many like that by men and yes some women.  I don't buy any music by musicians like that because I don't believe they deserve to get my money even if its just €1.

As a result I have had to take a stance when it comes to music by women who scantly dress and whose videos are almost porn.  Music has become more dangerous than movies because it's not rated.  At least when it comes to movies I can say ok this is PG or for 15 or 18 year olds and even the kids in my house know which categories to watch and can find age appropriate films to watch even by themselves.  With music they haven't done that and I think its highly essential since the musicians themselves are now shooting pornography
all in the name of music.  Its now so bad that even as parents we are at pains to know what to do with our children since music videos are released so fast that we are now failing to keep up when it comes to censoring what our children are exposed to.  The song could be about saving the planet and the singer would be so naked that one wonders what that has to do with the subject.  We do understand that music is all about ironies and poetry but most buyers are children and the musicians don't seem to want to respect their customers.

Parents are ending up fighting because one of them would have missed something a child is watching while busy trying to keep up with household chores. The fighting is also ongoing with the children because the musician at the centre of these fights would be their favourite and they would want to see the video.  They don't even realise that sometimes even the kids themselves are confused by the videos.  My ten year old daughter got two videos as a gift of her favourite musicians, Beyonce and Rihana, and she hasn't watched them since she got them.  They don't make sense to her and they seem to her to be disjointed from the messages in the songs.  I am very grateful for the outcome.  It would have been a different matter if she had  continued to watch the videos and started copying the dressing and the dances.  It wouldn't have mattered that I told the buyer not to ever send videos again if they are not going to make sure the content was age appropriate, the damage would have already been done.

The most important thing in anyone's life is their sense of pride, how they value themselves and their sense of dignity and humility.  How can you be a proud person with humility if you are seen not only more than half naked but dancing provocatively in public.  We all know that the reason most women seem to think their dancing rouchly in videos while semi naked is ok is because the money they earn protects them from the reality that what they are doing essentially  is promoting the porn industry.  There is a very thin line between pornography and what we mostly see on those music videos and its only that we don't get to see the performers actually getting to finish the job.  All that would be left would be to remove the remaining clothes and get on with business and it wouldn't be shocking to find one day that will be happening on our screens.  Its a very well know fact that most of these same musicians are copying some of their poses from porn videos that are already out there and using them as if they are innocent productions.

Most of these musicians say that they do this to fight for their freedom of choice and movement as well as fight against rape.  I am not a man and I don't condon rape and I don't think there is any excuse for raping but I do know that the way you dress will determine how people will treat you, both men and women.  If these musicians are using their bodies to get money is that not prostitution?  They are meant to be musicians but somehow their voices don't seem to earn them as much so they throw their bodies in as an extra boost to get paid more, what is that?

One question I have always had is how can anyone expect to be respected and be treated as an equal if they are taking using methods to gain favours.  Women will never go far with this statement because it only emphasises the stereotypes that are out there that women should be seen and not heard and I for one know that, that's not the heritage I want to leave for my girls and even boys.  Be sexy by all means but please don't undermine us in the process.
